BSL Level 3 Course

Our BSL Level 3 course is designed for learners who have a strong foundation in British Sign Language and are ready to develop advanced communication skills. The course follows the assessment criteria of Signature, the UK’s leading BSL qualification body.

You’ll learn how to confidently and fluently use BSL in a range of complex, real-life situations, including:

  • Expressing opinions and emotions

  • Discussing plans, issues, and abstract topics

  • Presenting information in structured, extended narratives

  • Engaging in debates and discussions

Understanding and using appropriate BSL grammar and non-manual features

Who is the course for?

 BSL Level 3 is suitable for learners who have already achieved a BSL Level 2 qualification and are confident in their conversational signing abilities. This course is appropriate for:

  • Individuals aiming for careers in interpreting, Deaf education, or BSL teaching

  • Professionals in healthcare, education, or social care who work regularly with Deaf people

  • BSL users looking to deepen their linguistic and cultural understanding

You’ll need a solid grasp of BSL grammar and vocabulary, and the ability to take part in spontaneous BSL conversations. An informal interview or skills screening may be required to assess your readiness.


What does the course cover?

This course covers the units required for the Signature Level 3 Certificate in British Sign Language (RQF):

  • BSL320: Sign Linguistics Knowledge – Understanding the structure and features of BSL, including grammar and syntax

  • BSL321: Receptive Skills – Developing your ability to understand extended BSL presentations and conversations

  • BSL322: Productive Skills – Demonstrating your ability to produce clear, coherent BSL in presentations and interactive situations


Leaners Progression

Upon completion of BSL Level 3, learners can move on to BSL Level 6, which focuses on native-level fluency, complex discourse, and professional BSL use. It is the next step toward becoming a qualified BSL/English interpreter or teacher of Deaf learners.

Course Fees

BSL Level 3 course is £1399. This includes tuition, access to advanced learning materials, and preparation for and undertaking Signature assessments.
