Who is the course for?
This course is ideal for complete beginners. The course builds a strong foundation in BSL structure and vocabulary, preparing you for further study or everyday use with the Deaf community.

BSL Level 1 Course
Our BSL Level 1 course introduces you to the foundations of British Sign Language, following the assessment criteria of Signature, the UK’s leading BSL qualification body.
You’ll learn how to confidently communicate using BSL in everyday situations, including:
Meeting and greeting people
Fingerspelling (names, places)
Numbers, time, and dates
Describing people, weather, and interests
Giving and understanding directions
What does the course cover?
This course covers all three units required for the Signature Level 1 Award in British Sign Language (QCF):
BSL101: Introduction to BSL
BSL102: Conversational BSL - Describing people, animals and objects, interests and activities, food and drink
BSL103: Communicating in Everyday Life - Getting around, sharing information and weather
Course Fees
BSL Level 1 course is £500. This includes tuition, access to learning materials, and preparation for and undertaking Signature assessments.

Course Fees
After completing BSL Level 1, learners can progress to BSL Level 2, which develops your skills in more structured and natural conversations. At Level 2, you’ll build on your vocabulary, grammar, and understanding of Deaf culture, enabling you to take part in longer and more detailed interactions in British Sign Language.
